Hill Descent Control

Hill Descent Control offers controlled descents on steep, rough and slippery roads. When activated, it helps you descend smoothly from 8 to 40 km/h (5 to 25 mph) using engine braking or, if needed, by braking each wheel individually – you just have to steer. You can brake anytime or, if you prefer, accelerate to adapt the speed. The smooth accelerator characteristics of Hill Descent Control also make it easier to drive off when towing a heavy trailer or a boat up a ramp. It also works in reverse gear.

Shift-by-wire single speed transmission

With the pure electric Volvo Recharge, there are no gear changes – only a smooth, seamless flow of power that adds to a very comfortable, controlled and intuitive driving experience. Shift-by-wire technology allows you to easily flick between the three gear selector positions, Reverse, Neutral and Drive, with one single movement. Park position is conveniently activated by pressing a button beside the gear selector.

Home charging cable, mobile 6 m/19.6 ft (40 A)

This durable 1-phase high-power charging cable allows safe, convenient and effective charging of your Volvo Recharge at home. The cable's capacity of max 40 A/9.6 kW gives you shorter charging times in comparison with the standard cable – all you need is a NEMA 14-50P electric home installation. Vehicle charging is monitored by two-way communication between the vehicle and the cable's control box. When the cable is connected to the vehicle, it performs self-test diagnostics to ensure that the cable is properly connected and that the vehicle is ready to receive power before charging starts. The control box is integrated into the charging cable and plugged into an ordinary power socket.

Power tailgate

Open or close the tailgate conveniently from the outside using the remote key. Or via buttons on the tailgate or the dashboard. Sensors around the tailgate opening help enhance safety when closing the tailgate. The power tailgate can also be programmed to open to a lower height than its maximum, very useful if you park in a garage with limited roof height. For extra convenience when loading, integrated illumination lights up the area under the tailgate. And to make it easy to open the tailgate when your hands are full, you can add a comfortable hands-free opening and closing function – just move your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate opens and closes at your convenience.

You can precondition the passenger compartment while the vehicle is charging to bring it to a comfortable temperature before you go. So no matter how cold or hot it is outside, you can always enter a passenger compartment that has been brought to a comfortable climate by the vehicle's electric heater or air conditioning. This will also help prolong your range in Pure electric mode. For optimized visibility and comfort in cold weather, you can activate heating of the front seats, steering wheel, windshield, rear window and door mirrors. Preconditioning can be conveniently operated from your smartphone via the Volvo Cars app, or simply by using the vehicle's center display. Start it directly, or select from among up to eight preset departure times. In the pure electric XC40 Recharge, preconditioning can also be activated when the vehicle is not being charged, which further enhances your convenience and comfort.

Road Sign Information

Road Sign Information alerts you to speed limits, "no passing," "do not enter" and various types of supplementary signs. The road sign is displayed on the speedometer. Lane Keeping Aid

This feature assists you at speeds above 65 km/h (40 mph). If you're about to cross a lane marking without using the indicator, the vehicle will gently steer you back into the lane.
