All-wheel Drive (AWD)

Our AWD technology with Instant Traction^™ gives you an edge by increasing driving stability and traction – on all road surfaces and in all weathers. As conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power to optimize your drive. Under normal conditions, practically all the power is distributed to the front wheels to minimize fuel consumption without compromising on stability. And when needed, up to 50% of the engine's power can be distributed to the rear wheels. At a standstill, full all-wheel drive is always engaged to prepare for maximum traction. This also facilitates take-off in slippery conditions or if you, for example, are pulling a boat trailer up a ramp.

Hill Start Assist

BLIS^™ and Cross Traffic Alert

This feature can assist in heavy traffic and when backing up. When a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches quickly from behind, you can be alerted by a light in the door mirrors. And if you drift into the path of another vehicle, your Volvo can help steer you back into your lane. To help make parking safer, it can also alert you of crossing traffic when you're backing up out of a parking space with limited rear visibility. It can even brake for you if there's a risk of collision. BLIS^™ and Cross Traffic Alert is part of our driver awareness technologies. Please note: The driver is always responsible for how the vehicle is controlled – these features are only supportive functions. All described functions may not be available in all markets.

Lane Keeping Aid

This feature assists you at speeds above 65 km/h (40 mph). If you're about to cross a lane marking without using the indicator, the vehicle will gently steer you back into the lane. If the steering intervention is not enough or you keep steering across the lane markings, you'll be alerted with vibrations in the steering wheel. Please note: The driver is always responsible for how the vehicle is controlled – this is only a supportive function.

Side impact protection

We believe that the vehicle should bear the brunt of any collision, not the people inside it.
