Adaptive power steering

The steering assistance adjusts automatically depending on your vehicle's speed to give you enhanced feedback at higher speeds and more support at lower speeds. In the vehicle's center display, you can also choose if you want a firmer steering feel throughout the entire speed range. For the XC40 Recharge plug-in hybrids and T2, three levels of steering sensitivity are available.

Home charging cable, mobile 6 m/19.6 ft (40 A)

This durable 1-phase high-power charging cable allows safe, convenient and effective charging of your Volvo Recharge at home. The cable's capacity of max 40 A/9.6 kW gives you shorter charging times in comparison with the standard cable – all you need is a NEMA 14-50P electric home installation. Vehicle charging is monitored by two-way communication between the vehicle and the cable's control box. When the cable is connected to the vehicle, it performs self-test diagnostics to ensure that the cable is properly connected and that the vehicle is ready to receive power before charging starts. The control box is integrated into the charging cable and plugged into an ordinary power socket.

Hill Descent Control

Hill Descent Control offers controlled descents on steep, rough and slippery roads. When activated, it helps you descend smoothly from 8 to 40 km/h (5 to 25 mph) using engine braking or, if needed, by braking each wheel individually – you just have to steer. You can brake anytime or, if you prefer, accelerate to adapt the speed. The smooth accelerator characteristics of Hill Descent Control also make it easier to drive off when towing a heavy trailer or a boat up a ramp. It also works in reverse gear.

Remote key

With this stylish remote key, you can conveniently unlock or lock the doors and open or close the power-operated tailgate from a distance. You can also close the windows and the panoramic roof. There's even a button that helps you call for assistance in an emergency. The key also stores your driver settings, so the vehicle can adapt to your set preferences before driving away. And if your vehicle is equipped with keyless locking, you just have to have the key within range, e.g. in a pocket or purse, to unlock the doors. The remote also includes a detachable key blade in case you need to unlock the doors manually.

Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay makes it possible to integrate an iPhone® with your Volvo. It gives you convenient in-car access to your favorite iPhone apps to navigate, make calls, receive messages and enjoy music while you drive. Voice control via Siri is specially adapted for driving. You can also control Apple CarPlay conveniently from the center display. The iPhone can be connected to a USB port in the center console, which also charges the battery.

Lane Keeping Aid

This feature assists you at speeds above 65 km/h (40 mph). If you're about to cross a lane marking without using the indicator, the vehicle will gently steer you back into the lane. If the steering intervention is not enough or you keep steering across the lane markings, you'll be alerted with vibrations in the steering wheel. Please note: The driver is always responsible for how the vehicle is controlled – this is only a supportive function.

Our Inflatable Curtain helps protect your head and neck in a side-impact collision or rollover. Helping to provide protection for occupants sitting on the sides including the third row, it deploys from the ceiling above the doors and rearmost side windows. The Inflatable Curtain also helps protect in some frontal collisions and stays inflated for several seconds to help provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts.
