Our AWD technology with Instant Traction™ gives you an edge by increasing driving stability and traction – on all road surfaces and in all weathers. As conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power to optimize your drive. Under normal conditions, practically all the power is distributed to the front wheels to minimize fuel consumption without compromising on stability. And when needed, up to 50% of the engine's power can be distributed to the rear wheels. At a standstill, full all-wheel drive is always engaged to prepare for maximum traction. This also facilitates take-off in slippery conditions or if you, for example, are pulling a boat trailer up a ramp.

Inflatable Curtain

Our Inflatable Curtain helps protect your head and neck in a side-impact collision or rollover. Helping to provide protection for occupants sitting on the sides including the third row, it deploys from the ceiling above the doors and rearmost side windows. The Inflatable Curtain also helps protect in some frontal collisions and stays inflated for several seconds to help provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts.

Side impact protection

In a side collision, our side-impact protection system SIPS™ distributes the crash force across a large portion of the vehicle's body to further reduce the risk of injury. The Inflatable Curtain and the front-seat side airbags interact with SIPS™ to help provide further protection for the front-seat occupants. Inner-side airbags further enhance protection by helping to keep the driver and front-seat passenger safely positioned in the seat. At the rear, SIPS™ and the Inflatable Curtain help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats.
