BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information System)

BLIS can monitor oncoming traffic from behind and help alert you when there’s a vehicle in your blind spot or if a vehicle approaches fast from behind. If you’re about to change lanes in busy traffic and the system detects a vehicle approaching your blind spot, you can be alerted with a light in the left or right door mirror. Should you nonetheless steer into the path of an oncoming vehicle, the car can even help steer you back in your lane to help avoid a collision. If there’s a fast-approaching vehicle coming from behind in an adjacent lane and there’s an imminent risk of a conflict situation, you can be alerted in the left or right door mirror. BLIS works in various weather and light conditions, day or night, and is active at all speeds over 6 mph.

Collision Mitigation support, rear

This feature can help prevent you from being hit from behind by activating the hazard warning lights at a rapid rate if a fast-approaching car comes too close. If a collision can’t be avoided, the front safety belts can be electrically pre-tensioned. The brakes can also activate if your car is at a standstill to further help reduce the risk of whiplash injury.

Pedestrian and cyclist steering avoidance

We designed this function to enhance safety for unprotected road users on rural roads with no pavement. If you for example don't spot a cyclist travelling in the car's direction on a straight country road with clearly visible road marks and there's risk of a collision, the car can actively steer away from the cyclist as long as the car does not cross the lane markings. This function can detect pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters.

Knee airbags, driver and front passenger

Further helping to protect the lower legs in the event of a frontal collision, the knee airbags are installed under the dashboard. The knee airbags are deployed together with the other airbags and supplement the seat belt, the seat belt tensioner, the brake pedal release and the integrated knee protection to help optimize protection.

If the car is hit from the side, the SIPS side-impact protection system distributes the crash force across a large portion of the car’s body to further reduce the risk of injury.
